The series is designed to encourage and recognize women in the music community, highlighting not only women songwriters and artists, but women working in all facets of the business, including managers, attorneys, label executives and music publishers. Following the event in Los Angeles, the series will move to New York, NY on October 23rd and Atlanta, GA on October 29th.<\/p>\n<p>Each of the three events will feature three or four honorees and a moderator. Los Angeles honorees include Grammy Award-winning recording artist <b>Melanie Fiona<\/b>, recording artist and actress <b>LeToya Luckett<\/b>, songwriter <b>Andrea Martin<\/b> and Title 9 Productions Founder and CEO <b>Carmen Murray<\/b>. Each of these women will be presented with a special memento in recognition of their contributions to music. Previous honorees include, but are not limited to, <b>Beverly Bond<\/b>, <b>Sheila E.<\/b>, <b>Siedah Garrett<\/b>,<b> Goapele<\/b>, <b>Tameka \u201cTiny\u201d Harris<\/b>, <b>Ledisi<\/b>, <b>Janelle Mon\u00e1e<\/b>, <b>Monica<\/b>, <strong>Kelly Rowland<\/strong> and<strong>\u00a0Mona Scott-Young<\/strong>. The evening will be moderated by <em>Billboard<\/em> Senior Editor\u00a0<strong>Gail Mitchell<\/strong>, and feature special performances by honorees Melanie Fiona and Andrea Martin. <b>Malibu Red<\/b>, <b>The New Nasty<\/b> and <b>Cupcake Stiletto<\/b> are sponsoring the event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve celebrated some truly incredible and deserving women since our inaugural Women Behind the Music event four years ago, and this year is no different,\u201d said ASCAP Vice President of Membership, Rhythm &amp; Soul<b> Nicole George-Middleton<\/b>. \u201cEach of our honorees this year has contributed immensely across all areas of the music business, and their hard work and dedication is truly inspiring.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Los Angeles Women Behind the Music<b> <\/b>event will take place on October 8th at Bardot Hollywood, located at 1737 Vine Street, Hollywood, CA 90028, from 7:00 to 10:00pm. Age 21 and over only.
